World Menopause Day, held every October 18 since 1984, encourages conversation and research on the possible health issues associated with menopause.1
Menopause is the natural decline of a woman’s reproductive hormones, typically beginning between the ages of 45 and 55. While most have heard of the uncomfortable symptoms accompanying menopause, such as hot flashes and mood swings, many may not be aware of the higher risk of developing conditions like heart disease and osteoporosis.
Help honor World Menopause Day by participating in these activities:
- Share information. The International Menopause Society provides a free online library of tools and resources centered on menopause.
- Support your colleagues. This LinkedIn Learning course explores the impact menopause can have on performances and work and how best to support women experiencing it.
- Educate yourself. Learn about the stages of menopause, symptoms and treatment options by reading this article from the GuidanceResources Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
